I'm the kind of guy that can eat frozen yogurt, soft-serve ice cream, or hand-dipped ice cream any time of year. The calendar does not affect me. I have a sweet tooth and most of the time if I am craving something sweet, my go-to is something frozen.

I can remember a time when there was no such thing as frozen yogurt or fro-yo. Then the evolution happened for frozen yogurt. It was almost like a movement. A powerful movement. I can recall the buzz about fro-yo; it's so much better for you than soft serve ice cream.

I didn't try frozen yogurt because I wanted to be healthier. For me, it was curiosity. Does frozen yogurt taste like yogurt? Does frozen yogurt taste like ice cream? These are the kinds of questions that I wanted answers to.

I did some hard research for you. You're welcome. At the end of my investigation, this is what I found out. Sit down for this one.

In my opinion, frozen yogurt and soft-serve ice cream taste the same. The texture and consistency are pretty much the same too. Here's where they are different.

Frozen yogurt is lower in fat and calories than ice cream. That's a win, right? Not so fast. Frozen yogurt can often times have more added sugar than ice cream.

In my opinion, it's six of one and half dozen of the other. I am not a dietician, so my opinion is not science-based, just so we are clear.

No matter where you are in the Lansing area, a nice cool treat isn't too far away.
