When I moved to Lansing, the Lansing Mall was a great place to go shop. That was 26 years ago.

The second place I lived was at Village Green Apartments, right behind the north side of the Lansing Mall. It was nice to be able to walk across the street to visit Spencer’s Gifts. On the rare occasion that I needed to get some dress clothes, I could meander across the street to J.C. Penny. Yeah, I'm a high roller. I remember the World Buffet that is now the Best Buy.

Another thing fun to do by the Lansing Mall is Zap Zone. Zap Zone is a fun place to go and kill some time. Especially if you have kids. Zap Zone is located at 936 Mall Dr. in Lansing. I take my kids there a few times a year to blow off some steam, have some fun and hopefully win a ton of tickets that they can spend to get prizes. It really is a lot of fun spending time there; I play the games too, usually Ski Ball.

Let's face it, malls are just trying to survive. Because of the ability to shop online through services like Amazon, fewer people go shopping at the mall.

I recently read on Facebook that Zap Zone is moving into the Lansing Mall. I called Zap Zone and spoke with Charlie who confirmed that Zap Zone is moving to the Lansing Mall. This is a win for both. Charlie told me that they hope to be moved to the Lansing Mall within the next 8-9 months. The new Zap Zone potentially will have bowling alleys and possibly a bar. The original Zap Zone is still open for now, and you can get their info at their website.

The Lansing Mall will get a new business to showcase, so it will drive more people to the mall to have some fun. Hopefully, after they have a blast doing all the fun things at Zap Zone, customers will explore the mall and do some shopping too. Zap Zone will have a new facility to have some fun with the family at. Don't get me wrong, Zap Zone is cool now, but it will be awesome at the Lansing Mall. Check out the mall's website for updates.

In my opinion, it's a win for the west side of Lansing and the Lansing Mall.
