As Mid-Michigan begins the "dig-out", many businesses and government offices remain closed. A snow emergency also remains in effect for The City Of Lansing. Mayor Virg Bernero issued the emergency status early Sunday. Meanwhile, The City Of East Lansing, also under a snow emergency has extended their restrictions through, at least, 5:00PM today January 6. In both municipalities, travel is restricted to "essential purposes"...groceries, doctor appointment, and work. Parking on streets in both cities is also prohibited. WILX-TV has the following restrictions posted on their website:

A Nixle report from Lansing at 4:15PM states that public service crews are currently working to clear streets in snow zones 1-11, 13-18, and 20-24. Here is a link to a map from The City Of Lansing.

Remember, hefty fines may be levied if an officer finds that you are travelling for non-essential purposes. (Some social media reports cite a $250.00 fine, though I have not confirmed this for myself, thank goodness...) In addition, if you leave your vehicle parked in a public street in Lansing or East Lansing, you may be responsible for any towing and impound fees that may accrue. Be patient, be safe, and stay warm!! This, too, will soon pass!
