Unfortunately some suffer during the colder months. Combine cold temperatures with a ton of snow and that makes for a terrible situation for others in our community that don't have heat or a home. We as a community should look out for our fellow man. Regardless of what circumstances people have been through and challenged with, people are human and need to stay warm. Lansing has numerous warming centers and shelters to help.

If you or someone you know is without heat, please visit a warming center. Take the bull by the horns and help those that need help. If they have no means to get to a warming center, do the right thing and give that person a ride to the warming centers or invite them into your warm home.

It's heartbreaking to see so many people in Lansing walking the streets, homeless and in need of help. I'm a firm believer that if you can offer someone hope, you can reinstill their faith. If you can do that for someone, you'll realize the impact you had on that person. It will shine through.

The City of Lansing provided some great information.
