Yesterday, I was busting my butt cutting and splitting wood in the hot sun. I was lamenting how hard life was, when a white truck drove by. It stopped, backed up and pulled in. There was Don Hoag, a guy I have known almost my entire life.

Don says "What do I gotta do to get you to talk about this?" He handed me a piece of paper.

I said "You just did it."

Don lost his daughter Lisa Borchard back in 2010 to ALS. To honor her memory, they put on Lisa's Run around the Ox Roast in Webberville each year. They use the money raised for a thousand dollar scholarship. Yearly, they present it to a student from Webberville who is pursuing a degree in elementary education.

There are medals awarded, shirts and a free-will offering breakfast following the race at the high school.

The run is coming up Saturday 9am in front of the Webberville Elementary School.

After seeing Don, the day didn't seem so hard.
