29 year old David Berry Jr. was ordered to spend a year in jail for poaching hundreds of deer. He also must watch the 1942 Disney classic movie "Bambi" as part of his sentence once a month during his incarceration.

Berry Jr., his dad and brother, along with a friend, poached the hundreds of deer over nine years, killing the wildlife in the middle of the night in Missouri's Lawrence County, then cutting off the heads for trophies, leaving the bodies to rot.

The Springfield News-Leader spoke with Randy Doman, MDC Protection Division Chief about the case and he said:

"In situations like this, with serial poachers who have no regard for the animals, rules of fair chase, or aren’t bothered by the fact that they’re stealing from others, it’s all about greed and ego"

Berry also was sentenced to 120 days in jail in nearby Barton County for a firearms probation violation.

The men have also been implicated in illegal fishing practices over the years. They were arrested in August after a nearly nine-month investigation that also involved cases in Kansas, Nebraska and Canada.
