Mark Dantonio was very blunt about his team's current situation during his weekly press conference.

As some might put it, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Michigan State's record and bowl chances are beyond helpless at this point but their ability to turn themselves around and show that they can be on the upswing heading into next year certainly falls into that category.

Since Mark Dantonio hasn't been able to figure out the big issues with his football team, this week he held town hall meetings with any player that wanted to be involved where they could air their feelings to either himself or their respective positions coach.

Without elaborating too much farther Dantonio mentioned that positives came out of those town hall meetings, saying it was "trying to problem solve as best I can".

If the problem solving works this week Michigan State breaks the second longest active losing streak in the FBS. If they don't the road to breaking that streak gets tougher with Ohio State and a trip to Penn State finishing out the season.

Dantonio also previewed Rutgers in a game that features the only two winless teams in Big Ten play.

On top of all this pandemonium surrounding the program's downward spiral this season, Dantonio was thankful to those fans and students who have stuck by the team this season.

Michigan State hosts Rutgers on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for noon. Catch all the action on your home for Spartan Sports, Classic Rock 94.9 WMMQ and Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
