Michigan Ranked Top 10 In CFP Pre-Season 2022-23. Too Soon?

ESPN reports Caesars Sportsbook on Monday opened Alabama as the national championship favorite for next season at 5-2, ahead of Georgia at 9-2 and Ohio State at 7-1.
Hours after the college football championship game, Sports Illustrated ranked the top 25 college football teams for next season.
The Crimson Tide will most likely be ranked in the top 5 again in the AP poll. Sports Illustrated thinks so too. In fact, they have them in the #1 spot, even with the final loss to Georgia. Sports Illustrated has already released their top 25 teams for 2022-23.

"we’ll see whether Harbaugh is still coaching the Wolverines in the coming days. But if he is, there is a good nucleus of skill-position talent to build around, starting with the quarterback tandem of Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy. The nonconference schedule should provide little opposition."
Shortly after the Bulldogs won the national championship, the final AP Poll Top 25 of the season was released. Michigan ended this season officially at #3 and Michigan State wrapped up the year at #9.
Where Is MSU On SI's 2022-23 Pre-Season Ranking?
Michigan State almost made Sports Illustrated top 10. The magazine placed the Spartans at #11 for next year. They said,
"Losing Kenneth Walker III’s production hurts, but there are other weapons on hand. Payton Thorne had an excellent sophomore season at QB, and Wisconsin transfer Jalen Berger arrives with a chance to fill Walker’s shoes and reenergize his career. The defense returns many of its key parts, and let’s face it—the secondary can only get better."
All we have to do is sit through the next 8 and half months to find out if SI is correct. Michigan's first game is slated for Saturday, September 3, 2022 against Colorado State in Ann Arbor.
Michigan is expected to be in the mix next season, opening at 15-1 to win the national title 2022-23 at Caesars Sportsbook.
The Spartans 2022-23 season opener is in East Lansing as they host Western Michigan Broncos on September 3.
The National Championship Game will be held on January 9, 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
