Mark Dantonio was already well on his way to getting his best recruiting class yet at Michigan State.

On Friday, he added another prize.

Josh King, one of the nation's top 100 players according to several recruiting services, announced his verbal commitment to the Spartans. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive line prospect made the announcement at his Hinsdale, Ill. high school.

King chose MSU over Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, Tennesee, Michigan and others.

"The coaching staff (at MSU) is phenomenal to me," King told 247Sports. "It feels like a family there, people you can connect to. I visited Michigan State many times and each time it gets better and better. I loved it.

"It felt like home."

King, who is also a state wrestling champion in Illinois, is a consensus 4 star recruit. He is rated the top player in Illinois by several recruiting services, and 247Sports ranks him as the nation's No. 5 strong-side defensive end.

King is the 14th verbal commitment for the Spartans' 2016 recruiting class. His announcement moves Michigan State up in the recruiting class rankings, which have the Spartans in the top 10 for several recruiting publications.
