WILX.com reports that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the 40th sighting of a cougar roaming wild in the state since 2008.

A trail camera in the Upper Peninsula's Delta County caught an image of the cat on August 17. This follows another confirmed trail camera image from Gogebic County, some 170 miles northwest of the most recent sighting.

Of the 40 confirmed sightings in that eleven year time span, all but one of the sightings were in the U.P.
