Mom Doesn’t Want These Gifts For Mother’s Day
This story has been updated with additional terrible gift ideas for mom, ya know, the gifts that she DOES NOT WANT. Some that responded to the original question misread the question, we'll have fun with that too. Perhaps a good gift idea is listed here too. New comments are listed at the top of the article.
Mother's Day is coming up on May 14th. You've been reminded and now it's time to go out and get something nice for mom. Be a good kid, husband or loved one and do the right thing this year to make sure that mom knows she is appreciated.
Mother's Day is a day to celebrate the moms in our lives. Although both of my moms have passed away (birth and bonus mom), I have fond memories of Mother's Days from my past with them. In school we always did a fun art project or something special to take home to mom each year. It's fun to see what my son creates for his mom and his bonus mom and I enjoy what my bonus son does for his mom, my wife. We instill good values to our kids. Grandmothers are not forgotten.
I also think it's important to do something nice in the event that you are separated or divorced from your child's mom. My son's mom is an amazing mom, one thing he and I like to do for her every year is get her a hanging plant for her porch. Little things can go a long way and I think the message that the child learns is priceless.
Now that we've talked about "good" gifts. Ya know, the ones that take time and effort with some meaning behind them. Let's talk about the gifts that mom does not want. I asked moms on my FB page to get some feedback and it is useful. I also had some dudes chime in and offer some suggestions of what not to get mom. Well done fellas. Moms don't want things like kitchen accessories, mops or vaccums. What that is saying is "hey, it's your job, here's a new vacuum to make it easier." Not cool, right?
Gifts That Mom Doesn't Want For Mother's Day
IOU's are terrible gift ideas. You have a whole year to plan something, don't drop the ball.
I love the spin move Theresa, I hope you get none of what you don't want and all of what you do.
That's about as lame as it gets for gifts.
Why are our moms so stressed out? Give them a break.
What a terrible gift for mom, no stress is the request.
Experiences are popular amongst moms.
Mandi lays it out there!
Rene, they love you.
Another gift that mom doesn't want. It's not her job.
This makes me sad altogether. I hope you have a good Mother's Day.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm. If you are asking if a bacon rack is a good gift idea, I am going to say no, try again.
Chocolate is something you can buy mom anytime of year. Put some thought into the gift. Know the mom in your life.
I am confused. I think Lisa misread the question about what moms don't want. Lisa, you deserve and should definitely get some acknowledgement.
That's a common response. Angie, you deserve that.
Brandon stepping up like a good fella and suggesting that mom does not want a vacuum.
Smelly bath stuff just screams "I didn't put any effort into buying you a gift mom."
Again, cooking and cleaning. Why do the moms feel like it's their job to do these things. I step up at home, we are a team unit.
As I continue to get the responses of cooking and cleaning it reminds me of how I can step up at home even moreso.
Well said Stacy, flowers die. If you've been out shopping with the mom in your life pick her up that pair of shoes she mentioned she loved a couple of months ago. It will also show mom you are paying attention.
Sara just loves being a mom.
Jamie, I bet you won't have to worry about that this Mother's Day.

A scale is a terrible idea unless mom specifically asks for one. Don't be insulting.
Tools, again, unless mom asks for tools, get her something special.
Bread. Odds are she already has bread and it's sliced.
If your mom is cool a gag gift could be a can of Spam, otherwise, think again.
Tires, that seems like a good gift if mom asks for them. Tires are one of those things you need to replace anyhow so giving them as a gift isn't very thoughtful.
A bridge. Unless it's a bridge to bring the family closer together, mom doesn't want a bridge.
