The Detroit News reports that the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak will build an anaerobic biodigester, which will turn the 400-some tons of manure and other organic waste generated annually at the zoo into POWER! Actually, the biodigester will turn the 'scat' and compost into methane-rich gas, which will generate power. Once it's in place, that process will save the facility 70 to 80 grand a year in energy costs.

They're using a crowfunding campaign to help fund the costs. You can get more information on that by clicking here.
