Get ready for more drenching rains tonight, and more showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday this week. The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for areas along Sycamore Creek in Holt and South Lansing through Thursday afternoon.

After a heavy dose of rain in this area Monday, there were some rainfall totals reported in Holt in excess of 2 inches yesterday, causing area roadways and structures to flood. According to the Lansing State Journal, Monday's rain forced Holt Junior High School to close today due to flooding. Reports out of Meridian Township accounted for nearly three inches of rainfall. Heavy winds with the Monday storms also caused damage to trees and some power outages.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service reported in their advisory that rainfall totals of two inches or more are also possible today. Currently, Sycamore Creek's flood stage was measured at 6.2 feet; bankfull stage is 6.0 feet; flood stage is 8.0 feet. The creek is expected to rise to 6.5 inches by tonight. At 6.0 feet, flooding starts along the creek, and at Scott Woods and Sycamore Driving Range in Lansing.
