Back in late September and early October 2016, a not-so-secret movie filming forced some streets in downtown Mason to close so crews could shoot scenes. Nobody really talked much about it ahead of time to prevent curious souls from flooding said streets more than normal traffic would. News leaked anyways. We knew the movie was to be about Detroit in some form. But, one thing nobody knew, however, is exactly what movie was being filmed. We now have that answer!

WLNS.com got the Hollywood scoop on the identity of the film and its date of release first. "Detroit" will hit theaters on August 4, focusing on the race riots of the 1960's that plagues the city. The film is directed by Kathryn Bigelow. She is also responsible for smash films like "Zero Dark Thirty" and "The Hurt Locker". Judging by the trailer, "Detroit" won't lack in drama and controversy, either. Check it out for yourself!
