Mother Nature sure has delivered a blow or two to us Mid-Michiganders over the past few weeks, but has left some breath-taking sights along the way. Now, if she feels so compelled to keep the clouds away tonight, we may be able to see a rare sight in our neck-of-the-woods.

Due to a solar flare that occured yesterday, the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, may be visible as far south as Mid-Michigan. According to experts with greater minds than mine, tonight just after midnight may be the best chance to see the strange glow in the sky. The lightshow is expected to last through Friday, but clouds are prominently featured in our forecast Thursday and Friday Nights. Here are some more details published by one of those experts, Mark Torregrossa at mlive.com.

I will post some pictures later tonight, if in fact I get a clear view. Feel free to share yours as well.
