Once in a Lifetime

Not really referring to the Talking Heads tune, but the opportunity was just that. Not only to be drawn for an "any elk" tag in Michigan (bull, cow or calf), but to actually become successful.

Long story short, 2013 was a personal best for yours truly. I was able to take a beautiful 6 X 5 bull elk in Gaylord, MI on Friday September 13. The downside, if you really even want to consider a downside, was that I fell short of making the Commemorative Bucks of Michigan record books.

Either way, it was an honor to be able to have the opportunity to take such a trophy. With 300 lbs. of free range meat in the freezer and a mount in process, I look forward to taking a Michigan black bear.
