Reviews for businesses are always good to read before I decide on where I spend my money. I don't take all reviews seriously. I believe that when people have a good experience, their review is honest. I think that when there is a negative review, people are agitated when they write the review and they take their "human" sense out of the scenario.

Yes, people do make mistakes. Is it worthy of a one star review with a lengthy read of the review? I am not sure. I haven't taken the time to write a negative review. I realize that sometimes things don't go as planned and often times it's human error. There are also times when things go south that are out of anyone's control. "Karens" have been getting a lot of notice over the past few years. Sadly, "Karen" has been lurking forever.

Perhaps a "forgiveness" is a valuable personality trait you could use? That's a great concept. How miserable is someone's life to spend way too much time writing a negative review, all the while knowing that it won't change the experience they had? What's done is done. If you had a miserable experience, don't go back.

Yes, reviews are important. Good and bad, they do matter. At the end of the day, if you had a bad experience because your fries were cold and wrote a five page essay about it, think about this, first world problems. Forgiveness is a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I have had plenty of bad experiences at local businesses. I can forgive and let it go. If it's that bad, I will speak with a manager. If the manager doesn't address the issue, I will not be back. Pretty simple.

I was curious about some fun, ridiculous one star reviews about Lansing area businesses. These businesses work hard, there are always more positive reviews then negative. Check these out and remember to try the business yourself, don't always rely on someone else's opinion. The following businesses I have had very positive experiences at. Others? Not so much.

One Star Reviews For Local Restaurants

Flap Jack Shack - 3000 E Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48912

Jolene might have a point but who's to say the skillet was the issue?

Veggie skillet gave me food poisoning and I ended up in the hospital for two days😁 the water was the only good thing

Athena's Diner - 3109 S Cedar St, Lansing, MI 48910

This is a weird one, Derek Moore says (notice the name change):

My name is Jon kelley jr... and I love food but this place does not have large enough portions. I used my food stamp card for the combo meal and it did not satisfy my hunger.

Woody's Oasis - 1050 Trowbridge Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823

Maria should get a microwave:

If you want to spend 90 dollars and get cold food, this is the place.

U Like - 5025 S Cedar St, Lansing, MI 48910

Kerri is bummed out:

I have always loved coming here for their homemade dumplings. Only to purchase the dumplings today and find them to be frozen. They are absolutely terrible and taste freezer burnt the dipping sauce isn’t even the same. It’s very sad that once my favorite restaurant will not be an option anymore for me as long as they’re selling these frozen dumplings.

Cask & Company Kitchen & Bar - 3415 E Saginaw St, Lansing, MI 48912

Bob was kind:

The food and wait staff were excellent!
Just be aware they are going to charge you 2% of your bill if you use a credit card!

The Cosmos - 1200 N Larch St, Lansing, MI 48906

Selina grinds her axe:

So I go to the cosmos probably about once a month; every time I order I get the chicken nachos and deviled eggs. So today I go in because I was craving the chicken nachos, I ordered for my friend and myself. I get home and literally it's almost all chips, barely any other toppings and they changed the chicken to this intensely shredded chicken, it almost looked like it came out of a can. I call them for a new order because again I was hungry pick the order up and literally they taste horrible. I don't know if it's because they change the chicken or maybe it's because they barely put any queso. Who knows, I definitely will not be back. Highly disappointed because this is not the first time this has happened. I could get chicken nachos from a actual Mexican restaurant but I chose this establishment. Now I'm out of 12$ and I'm still hungry.

Jose's Cuban Sandwich & Deli - 401 S Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48912

Amy is mad:

Totally miss the good sandwiches, but my last order was over $50 for a birthday party and it was HORRIBLE. When I called to discuss it, the owner offered no resolution and instead tried to blame the delivery service for HORRIBLE food. Totally shocked and will never order again.

Red Lobster - 3130 E Saginaw St, Lansing, MI 48912

Emalie sure keeps track of numbers and a bit dramatic:

walked into a depressive atmosphere, unwelcomed to the restaurant. our server, Allysa, barely said 20 words to us our whole time there. after i ran out of my drink i sat in my booth parched for 10 minutes before she finally came back for 2 seconds asking what we had to drink before quickly running off again. when we finally ordered she cut my husband off while he was trying to order. the appetizer took 20 minutes to come out and our entrees were an additional 15. not to mention the food was not hot it was room temperature. the steak was over cooked and fatty. overall just a tragic tragic time.

Penn Station East Coast Subs - 3020 E Saginaw St, Lansing, MI 48912

Gretchen is fired up:

I wish I would have taken a picture of what they decided was a sandwich. The fries were hard as a rock. And the salad. $9.29 for about 2 cups of lettuce, if that, and maybe 2-4 ounces of diced chicken. Let me not forget, they fulfilled 5 orders after they gave me my sandwich, before they gave us the picture salad. I don't know what happened at this location. It used to be my go to place for lunch. I'll never dine in again either. Filthy restroom. And the tables were sticky awful. I was looking forward to eating there, such a disappointment today. I won't be back. $31 throw away.

Zeus' Coney Island - 6525 S Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48911

Avery made the wrong choice to celebrate her anniversary:

My husband and I went here as a date for our anniversary, reviews we saw were good. We were seated quickly even though they were quite busy. But downside is, our server had absolutely zero hospitality. Seemed like she was just going through the motions. She was very rude with her tone of voice. Our food finally came out and it was cold as it could possibly be. As our waitress brought our food she also brought our check. She tossed it on the table and walked away saying she was going on break. Didn’t ask if we needed anything or if the food looked ok. There were literally 2 pieces of shredded lettuce on my husbands gyro. 2 pieces. Also, how do you go to a Greek gyro restaurant and have to pay extra for the gyro meat? Shouldn’t that just be included with your gyro? It’s the whole point of the restaurant. Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

I have been to all of these restaurants. I have had great experiences at these locations. I struggled to find one star reviews on all of these locations. Find out for yourself, if you're so inclined, leave a review.
