Pure Michigan has definitely become a household term when speaking about anything in Michigan and it's now back for a winter ad campaign.

You may have noticed that we haven't really seen too many commercials or ads with the famous slogan lately. Well, that is because the Pure Michigan ad campaign was dropped from the state budget. However, the ad campaign is back in action after receiving $20 million for the 2020-2021 fiscal year and they are dropping $1.2 million of that on the winter ads.

This will mark the first ad campaign since Fall of 2019 for Pure Michigan.

We are the Midwest’s winter playground,” “We have everything for outdoor adventure seeking… Lord knows we’ve been cooped up enough this year, it’s time to get outdoors and enjoy Pure Michigan...said Travel Michigan Executive Director Dave Lorenz in an interview with MLive.

Some of the new ads, which started on Monday, December 21st, will feature and focus on winter sports with such wording as "Still Flying," "Still Cozy," "Still Thrilling," and "Still Climbing." Michigan is home to over 6,500 miles of snowmobile trails, over 3,000 miles of cross-country skiing trails, and is second in the nation for ski areas.

The rest of the budget for Pure Michigan will be focused on the spring and summer campaign. In 2018-19, Pure Michigan had a $36 million budget. In 2019-20, the ad budget was scratched out in a line-item veto by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Whether you love the ads or hate them, you have to admit that they work. From informative ads to those that sparked Michigan based memes, I think they are great. To see more about the ad campaign and the Pure Michigan budget, click here.
