Ransomware Attack Affects Some 100,000 Michigan Health Records

WILX.com reports that one of Michigan's major medical billing companies suffered a data breach in September 2018, affecting an estimated 100,000 people.

Wolverine Solutions Group handles billing for health care providers, including McLaren Greater Lansing. Officials at Wolverine say some personal client data was encrypted by a ransomware attack. But, it does not appear that personal data was stolen by hackers.

Patients whose information was compromised will be notified by mail from Wolverine Solutions Group. Some may have already been informed. According to the report, Wolverine began mailing notices beginning in December 2018.
