This week our state surpassed a 55% Covid-19 vaccination rate, meeting the criteria for easing the in person work restrictions, which will happen in two weeks. Currently if you can do your job from home, you are required to, that will end on May 24.

AP Michigan reports

The 55% benchmark is the first of four under a plan outlined by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer less than two weeks ago. “If you’ve gotten your safe, effective vaccine, thank you. And if you haven’t yet, I encourage you to speak to your doctor or your friends or family who’ve been vaccinated to learn about their experiences,” the Democrat said in a video. “Everyday we get closer to putting this pandemic behind us and getting back to normal.” More than 4.4 million Michiganders ages 16 and older have received at least one dose.

The next qualifying level is at the 65% benchmark, All indoor capacity limits will be lifted other than social distancing. Once we're at 70%, that’s when it’s mask and gathering order will be lifted. At that time broad mitigation orders will be ended, unless unexpected circumstances happen. If there are still areas of the state with high infection rates, they may extend limits.

Pfizer's shots for 12-15 year olds was approved this week, but reopening criteria will still be based on those in the 16-plus population. According to John Hopkins University, Michigan still has the highest two-week coronavirus case rate. In Michigan, we’ve seen more than 700,000 residents recover from Covid-19.
