Strong Cooldown Coming to Michigan Bringing Fall Colors

It has been a wonderful summer, just the right amount of rain, and many awesome sunny days here in Michigan. The summer-like weather will continue throughout this week, but starting this weekend we will get an early taste of fall weather. 

MLive reports This week has today and Wednesday through Saturday feeling more like summer than fall. But by late Sunday or Labor Day, a strong cold front will zip through from the north. The north wind behind the front will introduce us to really fallish air. 

Keep in mind the Great Lakes are still warm and will really temper the chilly air, but we will still see highs in the 60s. Since the last half of May, our temperatures have been trending warmer than usual. It is looking like about a two-week period of cooler-than-normal temperatures.

The historical average temperature for September 10th is low to mid 70’s. Most of us in lower Michigan will experience morning temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s, and the day will warm up to the low-to-mid-70s. There will be some occasions where you are going to have to break out a jacket. Keep in mind chilly September morning temperatures are a big part of starting Michigan’s most colorful time of year, our fall colors. We are already seeing a few peaks of the fall colors here in mid-Michigan. But as we work our way through September into October, be sure and make some time to get the family out and take a fall colors drive. It is absolutely the most colorful time of the year in our beautiful state. Mother Nature sure knows how to put on a show!
