“Endurance” (Custer Barn in winter - Custer, MI) To me old barns convey a feeling of wisdom and endurance. Unfortunately they are slowly disappearing from the countryside as they are no longer economical for farmers to maintain. This one tilts heavily to its side. It seems it has not collapsed yet because it is leaning against his friend the tree. It will be sad when it is lost. This photo in B&W is still one of my all time favorite photos. I took it just before a snow storm hit which caused the whiteout conditions behind it.
