Smoke from the Western wildfires has blown its way east, due to heavy westerly winds.

It will be a hazy few days to start this week, as the expected clear skies have been compromised by smoke from the wildfires.

The massive blazes in Washington, Oregon and California have been burning for weeks, and have been picked up by the jet stream and carried east. You can even smell the smoke as the winds roll in from the west.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids posted this morning on Facebook:

Smoke in the upper atmosphere from the western U.S. fires will create a hazy sky through at least Tuesday. This smoke will stay suspended aloft and not mix down to ground level.

Meanwhile, the NWS in Chicago posted this map which shows the heavy smokes range as it rolls in.
