Train Hits Pedestrian In Haslett

WLNS.com is reporting that Meridian Township officials are on the scene of a train-pedestrian accident in Haslett. According to the story, investigators are staged near the Haslett Road and Marsh Road intersection. There is no confirmation of any fatalities, nor injury details. The accident occurred around 3:30PM Monday afternoon.

This is certainly a scary headline to read. Being one who grew up in Haslett, I know all too well how easy it is for kids to illegally cross the tracks to either of the two shopping centers in Haslett. Though I merely speculate that that is what happened, being so close to school dismissal times is certainly cause for concern in my opinion.

UPDATED 4:40pm 10/10/16 - According to WLNS.com, officials have confirmed that a 13-year-old boy has died as a result of this accident. The body was found west of Marsh Road along the tracks.
