Two Michigan Beaches Voted as Best in the U.S.
Every time I turn around Michigan is making some new list on why we're the best.
I get it, we're pretty damn great.
Did you know that we were voted as one of the best states to road trip in? I even put together a list of places for you to visit!
Well, I'm proud to say that two of Michigan's beaches made Fodor's Travel's list of Best Beaches in the U.S. That Are Nowhere Near the Ocean.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
The beaches at Sleeping Bear Dunes took the top spot! Which doesn't surprise me because it's 35 miles long.
The great thing is that there are several different beaches to choose from too. So, if one is a little too crowded for your liking, onto the next one.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was also voted as one of the best vacation spots!
North Beach Park
Well, it would've been nice if they actually got the beaches name right haha. But hey, North Beach Park in Grand Haven came in at number five. They called it North Shore Beach.
This beach runs along Lake Michigan's shoreline and features volleyball courts, picnic areas and a play ground. If you're looking to snap some great pics of the beach, you can climb the dune stairs for a panoramic view.
Pet-Friendly Beaches
If your pet is your best friend, why not take them with you on your adventures this summer?
Our great state has several pet-friendly beaches you can visit! If they happen to be a water bug and love swimming, you could even take them for a ride on a paddle board or kayak!
Here's a small list of other pet-friendly beaches
- Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
- Twin Lakes State Park
- Porcupine Mountains
