Michigan, like every other state, has rules and laws that citizens are supposed to follow. Many laws are in place to keep people safe. Common sense isn't something you can buy, rent or lease.

There are laws that exist that people don't talk about. For instance, it's ok to turn left on a red light, if the street you're turning onto is a one way street and the traffic flows in that direction. There are countless folks here in the Lansing area that don't realize you can do that.

How about some of the "unwritten" rules. Perhaps things that Michiganders do because we live in Michigan. I have lived in Illinois, Missouri and most of my life in Michigan. Michigan is by far the most unique, "unwritten" rule following stat I've lived in. Michigan has some quirks.

I went to my Facebook page to get YOUR feedback about the "unwritten" rules that only Michiganders would know. Once again, you didn't dissappoint. Of course the "pop vs. soda" debate was discussed. The one thing I love about putting these types of poles on my FB page is the comedic responses.

If you've lived in Michigan for some time or your whole life, you're aware of these "unspoken" rules but this is a good reminder for you in case you have forgotten.

Thank you for your feedback. Let's explore the "unwritten" rules that only local Michiganders would know.

Using your left hand as a map is a must, we're the only state that can do that. True statement, if it's above 32 degrees it's sweater time. Shorts go hand in hand with winter in Michigan, and there's the pop vs. soda debate.
