Warm Water Walleye On Fire In Michigan!
If you're a walleye angler or just looking for some of the tastiest table fare ever, then the toothy walleye should be your target.
Reports from Captain Lance Valentine of Walleye 101 state that wherever you are, that's the place to be! And that "these are the good 'ol days" for walleye fishing.
Places like the Detroit River that are usually spring hot spots, are still seeing large numbers of fish holding still. The Michigan side of Lake Michigan is producing good quantities as well as the Ohio side in places like Port Clinton.
According to Valentine, The water temperatures in Saginaw Bay are reaching the 70 - 72 degree mark. With that, he is putting out crankbaits and spoons and kicking up the speed to trigger a reaction from fish that have full bellies of new baitfish and mayfly hatchlings.
He also says not to let the warmer water temperatures discourage you, even in shallow water. Shallow water with thick, heavy weed beds produce oxygen and offer a cooling spot for fish to hide and prey on baitfish.
Those are just a few tips to help get you onto the waters of the Great Lakes State and enjoy the fishing.
