The Detroit News has a really moving article here about the thousands of people who showed up yesterday to pay their respects to the legendary Detroit Red Wings great "Mr. Hockey", Gordie Howe, who passed Friday at the age of 88.

Wayne Gretzky, "The Great One", was there. All day. Howe's family asked him to be a pallbearer yesterday for the procession that was held at Joe Louis Arena. Gretzky stood with the family from 9AM until the last person passed by Howe's coffin.

Gretzky talked to the Detroit News about his best Christmas gift ever, which was a Gordie Howe jersey when he was 5 years old. And about how when Gretzky went pro at the age of 17, he went on the road with Howe and Bobby Hull for the World Hockey Association and they ran into Muhammad Ali in the lobby of a hotel and chatted with him. Check out the stories here - really cool article.
