The Hawk Island Triathlon is one of my favorite events to take part in every year. I only emcee the event, I don't compete, but this event inspired me to challenge myself to a couple of 5K runs and a sprint-tri (kayak, bike, run) in Grand Ledge; something that I never thought I would do. Turns out, I was the only one telling me I couldn't do it. It is such an incredible feeling to do something you never thought possible - promise.

Maybe you just want to 'dip your toes in the water' by volunteering for this event that's so charged with positive energy - they can always use an extra pair of hands.

It's so fantastic to see people of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels competing. Read here in the Lansing State Journal about the racer who will be two months shy of his 80th birthday when he competes Sunday!

Thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors and organizers who make this event happen. And credit goes to Lansing City Council Member Kathie Dunbar for making this happen and making it a huge success.
