Group Files Federal Lawsuit Against Williamston Schools

WLNS.com reports that the Great Lakes Justice Center has named Williamston Community Schools and six of its school board members in a Federal civil rights lawsuit filed Friday in Grand Rapids.

The lawsuit alleges that a recently implemented transgender policy at Williamston Schools violates the rights of religious citizens and Title IX laws by allowing girls to join boys' sports teams, and boys to join girls' teams.

According to the report, the lawsuit alleges that the school district's transgender policy denies religious students their right to privacy, dignity, and personal identity.
