The Michigan State Fair kicked off today at the at the Suburban Collection Showcase on Grand River in Novi, if you're looking to see the 400 pound butter cow, ride the 41 rides, eat corn dogs and elephant ears, see the livestock and more!

MSU opens their season at home tonight against Jacksonville State -- WMMQ's Joey Pants and Nick Chase will be working the pre-game tailgate show with Tim Staudt and David 'The Mad Dog' DeMarco.

Other events this weekend include 'Lamafest' at MSU's Pavilion tomorrow and Sunday.  I'm not sure why, but the spell it with only one 'L'.

There's a car show that's raising money for Sparrow Hospice tomorrow from 9A-3P at Hawk Island Park on Cavanaugh in Lansing.

Sunday, the Green Door on MI Ave in Lansing will hold the 25th Annual Blues for Dystrophy from 3PM to midnight.  WMMQ midday host Duran Martinez will be singing with 'Frog and the Beeftones' when they get on-stage around 5:00.

Arts, Beats and Eats is happening in Royal Oak today through Monday night.  You'll find some Classic Rock acts in the entertainment lineup!

Grand Ledge is holding their own Labor Day Bridge Walk Monday.
