I was blown away by an Mlive story today claiming Michigan owes 6.34 BILLION dollars in past due child support payments. You can see that story by clicking here. What is even more shocking is, it's down nearly a billion from last year.

They break the numbers down and it's pretty amazing. Nearly 900 thousand children are served. A study from 2007 by The Urban Institute found that approximately 70 percent of Michigan's child support debt was owed by parents earning less than $10,000.

Approximately 5000 parents had their driver's licenses suspended for failing to pay child support. Seems like it would be hard to make money without a driver's license?
