2 Spartans, 2 Chippewas and a Wolverine Won a Super Bowl Together
It was on Christmas when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former MSU QB Drew Stanton. He has history with Tampa Bay head Coach Bruce Arians going back to their time in Arizona. Drew's real gift came last night as he was put on the active roster for his first Super Bowl.
Now, Drew hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL since 2017. He has NEVER completed a pass in the postseason but he will get his first Super Bowl ring. I have no doubt he was Arians good luck charm and will go into coaching when his clipboard holding career is over. Drew does so much good with the High 5 Foundation. He was born in Sparrow Hospital.
Another former Spartan won his first Super Bowl last night. William Gholston actually was one of the dudes who got to pour the Gatorade on Coach Arians.
For Central Michigan, Antonio Brown caught a touchdown in the game. On the defensive side, Sean Murphy-Bunting played cornerback. He was a second round pick a few years ago from Macomb.
For the Wolverines, Tom Brady played in his 10th Super Bowl. He won his 5th Most Valuable Player award in the Super Bowl. Became the second QB ever to win a Super Bowl for 2 teams. He and Gronk overtook Montana and Rice as the combination with most postseason touchdown connections ever at 14. Plus, he became the first QB to win a Super Bowl in 3 different decades. The greatest of all time. He is the GOAT.
