These bitter cold temperatures have me saying something that I don't normally say, "a hot cup of soup sounds damn good right now",

I am not a soup guy. I have never been the one to crave soup for a meal, unless I am sick of course. If I am sick it's Mrs. Grass all day long. With the predicted temperatures for the next few days not going above 20 degrees I might be getting some soup. Yes, I said it.

One of my favorite memories from childhood was going sledding all morning at Kiwanis hill (back home) and walking back home at lunchtime to get in on some chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese. As soon as I was done I put my wet winter gear back on and hiked back to the sledding hill for round two of sledding in the afternoon. I was warmed up and well nourished but still had to wear the bread bags in my boots to keep my feet dry.

During the summer time I do like a bowl of gazpacho. Dusty's in Okemos usually has a solid cold soup in the summertime. I haven't tried their "hot" seasonal offering for the winter season.

If you've been out clearing snow, playing in the snow or are just plain cold, a cup of soup might do you some good. There are plenty of great options in the Lansing area to get that warm cup of soup to warm up with. Yelp lists the best places for soup in Lansing.
