The Lansing State Journal reported today that Crego Park in Lansing has re-opened to the public. The 200 acre park that includes the 15 acre Fidelity Lake, quietly reopened earlier this summer, but the 'official' opening was yesterday.

Crego Park was closed in 1986 after it was determined that there was industrial waste on the site. LSJ says that FMC Corporation out of Philadelphia spent around $8M to clean up paint sludge and other toxic treats they'd dumped there.  Some recent grant funding got the land in usable condition again.

Crego Park, off East Mt. Hope near Evergreen Cemetery, now has a canoe/kayak launcher, sidewalk, parking lot and a fishing pier.  Sounds awesome!
