Electric Charging Stations Will Put East Lansing on the Map
The city of East Lansing is considering a proposal that would require developers to include charging stations in their site plans. This will put the city of East Lansing on the map.
City Council approved a requirement for any new development that must have at least 50 parking spaces under planning guidelines to install a charging station.
Council members said the initiative will help attract electric vehicle owners and encourage more people who live in the area to buy them.
Those who currently drive electric cars will have the presence of charging stations which encourages drivers to park, charge their car and spend money on local businesses.
There are more than 30 electric charging stations in the Lansing area. They're located at churches, libraries and parking facilities.
In East Lansing, there are public charging stations at the library, in two parking garages and the City Hall Parking lot. Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
