The Michigan Secretary of State shared something to their Facebook page, debunking the conspiracy theory making rounds on the internet right now.
In short, no. Voting with a sharpie at the poll does not make your ballot invalid. In fact, it is the preferred writing utensil to use at the polls because the ink drys quicker and won't smudge.
