Multiple news sources are reporting the death of former Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland. There is no cause of death as of yet, he was 48 years old. 48 year-old's rarely fall asleep and die in their car and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to speculate. He's had his bouts with heroin that have cost him the love of his life, his bands and his youth.

In 1993, I got the album Core and it stayed in my cd player almost all year. Many people thought he sounded "like Pearl Jam" but I NEVER heard that. Stone Temple Pilots had a huge run and at one time, were one of the biggest bands in America. The song "Fall to Pieces" with Velvet Revolver is an amazing introspective song about loss. The video shows the struggle he's had with overcoming the loss and addiction.

Scott was on tour in Minnesota with his band "The Wildabouts." The band posted a statement on Facebook saying "he passed in his sleep." Get more of the sad news here.

I hope he has found peace. He was always fashionable and a great entertainer. He rocked Common Ground a few years back. I am grateful to have seen them play.
