Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Restaurant Mandates

As you already know, restaurants in Michigan reopened for dine in service after nearly three months of only take out or delivery options.

My wife and I pay close attention to Governor Gretchen Whitmer's executive order which now mandates that restaurants can be filled to only 50% capacity and most customer facing employees must wear face coverings.

So this being Father's Day weekend, we plan on going to several restaurants to celebrate not only Father's Day but the first day of summer as well.

My wife and I are diligent about wearing our masks and social distancing. However, we have noticed a lot of people out and about not wearing masks and not social distancing. We both feel that everyone should be following all guidelines.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Linda Vail, who is the health officer with the Ingham County Health Department said the responsibility for monitoring customers and their compliance with mask wearing guidelines falls on the establishments themselves.

Vail also said it's going to be up to the business to enforce. They are either going to turn away people who refuse to wear masks or let them in anyway.

So if you plan on taking dad out to a restaurant during Father's Day weekend, here's what you need to know:

Under the reopening restrictions, masks are required when people are inside an enclosed public place, though they can be removed to eat or drink.

Masks also are recommended for outdoors and group settings. And people who are not from the same household should try to stay 6 feet away from each other.
