Governor Snyder Ends Michigan’s Beer Keg Tag Law

WLNS.com reports that a 2010 law aimed at lowering underage drinking at keg parties will no longer be a state law in 90 days.

According to the report, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has signed legislation that repeals the beer keg tag law. Since the law had been passed seven years ago, those who purchased a keg of beer have been required to provide personal information on a receipt that the store keeps until the keg is returned. When the keg is initially purchased, a tag is attached to the barrel that identifies the information on the receipt. A deposit will not be returned if the tag is removed.

The legislation was introduced and passed through the state House and Senate as lawmakers believe the law has done nothing to reduce underage drinking.
