Governor Whitmer Looking to Increase Funding for Road Patrol
Here's some great news, Governor Gretchen Whitmer officially signed off on increased funding for the state's Secondary Road Patrol program.
Why? Because we need the extra help out in our communities. This is all about extra funding for more police officers and also the removal of illegal guns from local neighborhoods.
And what about expanding more opportunities in jobs, education and the justice system? It's all part of the plan.
According to mlive.com:
Whitmer said in a statement that the 50% increase in funding for the program would “improve law enforcement recruitment and retention by bolstering the funding stream and enabling sheriff departments to give their officers more stability.
It's so important to focus on increased funding when it comes to safer communities and being able to remove illegal guns can definitely be quite an improvement throughout the Greater Lansing area.
Personally speaking, I think this is a great idea. And I do feel that most everyone agrees that safer communities is a high priority, and that's what we're going to get by having Governor Whitmer sign off on increased funding for police.
Mlive.com also adds:
“I am thankful that both Governor Whitmer and the Legislature came together with a commonsense solution to the Sheriffs’ secondary road patrol concerns,” Matt Saxton, executive director of the Michigan Sheriff’s Association, said in a statement. “These bills provide for stability in funding that will put additional deputies on our road to provide improved public safety response throughout the state of Michigan.
