Governor Whitmer Plans to Shut Down Benton Harbor High School

The story says Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proposed closing Benton Harbor High School after the 2020 school year because of massive debt. She won more than 90 percent of the vote of the city and they feel a bit betrayed. The school has been in operation since the 1870's.

Some people say it's a good thing. Others are screaming racism. Some compare it to the Godfather.

The timing is very strange. Benton Harbor features Michigan Mr. Basketball contender Carlos "Scooby" Johnson, who lead them to a State Championship in 2018. He'll be a senior this year and has been offered to play at both MSU and U of M. What a way to go out, huh?

It's been a dying city for years and residents believe this will be the straw that breaks the back of Benton Harbor for good.
