A busy traffic artery in Ingham County's out-county area is being closed to traffic indefinitely beginning Tuesday, March 7. The Dietz Road bridge over the Red Cedar River in Leroy Township is not structurally sound enough to handle vehicle traffic of any kind, though it will be open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic according to a press release from the Ingham County Road Department.

Officials say that replacing the bridge is not financially feasible at this time. The ICRD applied for state funding to repair the Dietz Road bridge, but it was not selected for supplemental funding. In the meantime, the bridge will stay closed to traffic until alternate funds can be raised.
