Michigan State University has plenty of recognizable things around campus.

Sparty. Beaumont Tower. The Dairy Store. And now, apparently, we can add four giant cows to the list.

Four new cow sculptures have been installed at the MSU Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center, and there is just one problem: they don't have names yet.

That's where you come in.

Four New Cows Have Arrived At Michigan State

MSU is asking the public to submit name ideas for all four sculptures, with a committee eventually choosing the winners.

And yes, there is actually something in it for you besides the glory of knowing you helped name a giant cow at Michigan State.

What Winners Of The MSU Cow Naming Contest Get

Anyone whose name is selected will receive a free ice cream from the MSU Dairy Store, along with an Arts MSU tote bag.

Honestly, the ice cream might be enough motivation.

Inside MSU's New Dairy Cattle Research Center

The sculptures are located at MSU's new Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center, which became operational in 2025. The massive facility replaced MSU's decades-old dairy center and gives students and researchers a much more modern space to work with the university's dairy herd.

Now, it apparently also has some new residents that won't require as much feeding.

When The MSU Cow Naming Contest EndsW

Entries for the naming contest close October 15, so there isn't much time left if you've been sitting on the perfect cow name your entire life.

I feel like Michigan State fans have an opportunity to get creative.

You could do something Spartan-themed, dairy-related, or just be ridiculous and have fun with it.

Just remember, somewhere on campus, four nameless cows are counting on you.
