Yesterday afternoon a jury in Jackson County took three and a half hours to find 20 year old Anthony Gelia guilty of felony murder in connection with the homicide of 26 year old Brittany Southwell of Jackson. Southwell was fatally shot while holding her infant son in November of 2016.

Southwell left behind three young children.

Gelia was also found guilty of home invasion and a felony firearm charge.

Evidence presented in the trial included Facebook live video of Gelia busting into a house on Jefferson Street in Jackson. The video was taken from Gelia's phone.

It seems that Gelia went to the house and kicked in the door because of a previous Facebook fight with his brother.  Southwell was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Gelia said in court that he didn't mean to kill anyone.

Gelia will be sentenced in May; he's facing mandatory life in prison with no chance of parole.
