A long time Lansing Area staple may be closing for good. As reported by our Sparrow Tailgate Show co-host Tim Staudt at wilx.com, Walnut Hills Country Club may be permanently closing its doors after falling on tough financial times. Its golf course has not opened yet this season. And, according to the story, a grassroots effort within the club's membership to keep it open has failed. Reports suggest that the club may be sold to a Detroit Area real estate developer.

Walnut Hills first opened to members in 1921. From 1992-2000 it also hosted the LPGA Oldsmobile Classic ladies' professional golf tournament.
