I didn't grow up in Lansing but I have heard the stories from those that have. There used to be some pretty awesome places to see shows in Lansing. The Lansing Civic Center was a popular venue for years. Of course you've got some other venues in the Lansing area that used to host live shows like The Silver Dollar on Michigan Avenue or the Temple Club in Old Town. Mac's Bar also has had some awesome acts perform on their stage. The new and improved Mac's Bar is reopened and booking shows again.
Spartan Stadium has hosted one concert since I have lived in Lansing and that was U2 over ten years ago. The U2 show at Spartan Stadium was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Live shows can change your opinion about a band. I appreciated U2's talent but became a fan after I saw them live.
The best show I have seen, hands down, was Lollapalooza in 1992.
