Love Chocolate? Head To Old Town In Lansing This Weekend
What's your chocolate pleasure?
Chocolate covered peanuts? Dark chocolate? Chocolate chip cookies? Chocolate Cake? Chocolate ice cream?
What does it do to you? How does it make you feel? They say diamonds are a girl's best friend but I think a majority of ladies would tell you to start with chocolate.
There's science behind it.
Chocolate contains a number of interesting psychoactive chemicals. These include anandamide, a neurotransmitter whose name comes from the Sanskrit - "ananda", meaning "joy, bliss, delight". Anandamides stimulate the brain in much the same way that cannabis does.
It also contains tyramine and phenylethylamine, both of which have similar effects to amphetamines.
Finally, if you look hard enough, you will find small traces of theobromine and caffeine, both of which are well-known stimulants. (BBC)
It smells good, it tastes good, and it makes you feel good. All legally. It might hurt your waistline if you eat too much but a little bit of chocolate ain't never really hurt nobody (unless you're allergic).
So if you love all things chocolate like I do, you need to get to clicking pretty quick to get your tickets to the 7th Annual Old Town Chocolate Walk.
This year to keep everyone safe they've made some modifications. This year the Chocolate Walk will take place over two days - Friday, February 26 from 1 - 6 p.m. and Saturday, February 27 from noon to 5 p.m and there will only be 100 tickets per day sold.
The event is this weekend and as of this article posting, there were 32 spaces left.
If you purchase a ticket for Friday, you must attend on Friday only and the same for Saturday. Masks will be required for all participants for this event. Each ticket for this event will receive a box to fill with chocolate, a punch card and a map of participating businesses. We are excited to bring this event to our community safely and we can't wait to see you in Old Town! (Old Town Commercial Association)
