Earlier this week there was a Zoom outage. And the effects were far reaching.

Not only were important business meetings interrupted or put on hold, so were a number of online classes. That delayed what would have been the first day of school for a lot of people on Monday.

Now comes word from LSD (Lansing School District) that they will be delaying their first day of classes by one week. LSD classes will now start on September 8th after Labor Day.

The first day of school was previously August 31st, however a contract employee delivering supplies to some of the schools tested positive for COVID-19. (LSD)

The delay of classes until Tuesday, September 8th after Labor Day will give the Lansing School District time to deep clean many buildings again that will house students at Learning Labs that may have been recently contaminated by a worker that tested positive for COVID-19. This change will also affect technology distribution that was scheduled for today as well.

Families that have not yet received the proper technology for the start of school can pick up a device at their child’s school office when school begins. Friday’s technology distribution was initially scheduled to accommodate device returns or fixes for any troubling technology. We need to cancel distribution at the Don Johnson Fieldhouse today and parents will be notified when devices are available to pick-up at their child’s school.” (Lansing School District)
