I am a Chip. Graduated from high school and headed to CMU fall of 1988. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 1993. Got my degree in broadcast communications and everything (with a minor to boot in management and psych).

One of the BEST things I remember about my days in Mt. Pleasant as a Chippewa was football Saturday mornings at Kelly Shorts Stadium. Sure there was high school football but this was MAC football. College football. In a stadium. The atmosphere was electric. And yeah, for those of you that attended bigger schools with bigger teams and bigger stadiums, you're probably like...whatevs.

But for me, when CMU played WMU for Western Weekend, there was nothing like it. Battles with Eastern and Ball State and Bowling Green.

And when we made it to the championship game. I still remember it vaguely being the California Raisin Bowl when everything was getting a corporate sponsor.

Oh and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the 3 years we triumphed over the Spartans!

1991 & 1992. Back to back baby. Oh, and in 2009.

In the first meeting, CMU stunned the 18th-ranked Spartans 20-3 and followed that up with a 24-20 victory in the next year. Central Michigan also beat Michigan State in 2009, using a late onside kick recovery and field goal to post a 29-27 win. (CMU Chippewas)

Those were the days.

But this is now. And the pandemic is shocking us in more ways than CMU did MSU three times.

Postponements and cancellations are the new norm. What are we doing with schools? With Fall sports?

Well, the MAC has spoken up and we're gonna be pushing things back. To the spring of 2021.

The Mid-American Conference has postponed its entire fall sports season, becoming the first FBS conference to make the drastic decision because of ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

The MAC said it has started formalizing plans to move all affected sports -- football, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, field hockey and women's volleyball -- to spring 2021, if possible. (ESPN)

Winter sports including men's and women's basketball is still up in the air.

Central Michigan football coach Jim McElwain had this to say via Twitter on Saturday.
